The Academy Awards of the Minnesota Book Community
February 24, 2011
The 23rd Annual Minnesota Book Awards Gala takes place on Saturday, April 16 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in downtown Saint Paul. Come celebrate our state’s best authors and books, and be part of the excitement when this year’s winning titles are announced. This annual event, which is known as the Academy Awards of the Minnesota literary community, has been coordinated by Ann Plans for the past five years.
In advance of the Gala, familiarize yourself with the list of 32 finalist books. During the month of March you can help select the winner of the Readers’ Choice Award by voting for your favorite finalist book at TwinCities.com.
The April 16 festivities include:
- 6:30 p.m. – Opening reception with a cash bar, opportunities to meet the finalist authors, book sales and book signings
- 8:00 p.m. – Awards ceremony with complimentary champagne and desserts
Awards will be presented to the winner of each of the eight book categories as well as the Readers’ Choice Award. Also receiving awards will be the winner of the 2011 Book Artist Award, Regula Russelle, and the 2011 winner of the Kay Sexton Award, Carol Connelly.
This event has sold out the past three years, so don’t delay in purchasing your tickets.
